[Tweet](https://twitter.com/share) ![SunglassDay01](https://blog.nslanalytical.com/hs-fs/hubfs/SunglassDay01.png?width=600&name=SunglassDay01.png) As a member of The Vision Council, NSL Analytical Services is proud to support National Sunglasses Day on Sunday, June 27.  This initiative promotes the importance of wearing ultraviolet (UV)-protective eyewear.  The annual celebration reminds everyone that wearing sunglasses is not only fashionable, but it is also a health necessity. ## The Health Benefits of Wearing Sunglasses Sunglasses help protect your eyes from long- and short-term damage from the sun's harmful UV rays. They protect against "blue light" from the solar spectrum, which can increase your risk of macular degeneration. Sunglasses help you see better and more comfortably when driving, which can help increase your road safety. Plus, regularly wearing sunglasses can help your eyes more easily adapt to darkness, including driving at night. ## Initiatives for National Sunglasses Day The Vision Council is elevating awareness of the campaign by encouraging health providers, industry professionals and consumers to get involved for National Sunglasses Day. Join us by posting on social media channels using the official hashtags, #SunglassesSelfie and #NationalSunglassesDay, and tagging @TheVisionCouncil on Facebook and Instagram and @OpticalIndustry on Twitter. Plus, The Vision Council has created new downloadable marketing assets including sample social media graphics and posts, web banners, posters, logos, and more.
