In contrast to conventional static funnel flow techniques, dynamic avalanche rheometry can generate highly reproducible data that correlates very well with various metal powder properties. The technique is included in several joint ISO/ASTM work items and an ASTM interlaboratory study, reflecting the drive toward standardization of new powder flow techniques.
This webinar reviewed the use of these low-shear avalanche (“drum”) rheometers for characterizing the flow of metal powders. Dr. Dave van der Wiel, NSL's Director of Technology Development, discussed several data sets from this technique, with an emphasis on parametric effects and statistical analysis of rheometer data.
