The aerospace industry is increasingly adopting metal additive manufacturing (AM) for both flight safety-critical aircraft parts and non-critical flight parts. The approach offers a shorter development cycle, which means products can be developed quicker and design changes easily incorporated. Similar to other 3D-printing methods, metal AM, specifically select laser melting (SLM) and electron-beam melting (EBM), builds up a part layer-by-layer by depositing thin layers of metal powder that are melted with a laser or other thermal source.

As a provider of ophthalmic testing services, we're happy to share that after years of work, The Vision Council has successfully won a Proposition 65 Safe Use Determination (SUD) from the State of California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) for exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA) from polycarbonate prescription glasses, non-prescription sunglasses, over-the-counter reading glasses, and safety glasses manufactured, distributed, or sold by members of The Vision Council. Essentially, this SUD issuance from the OEHHA concludes that a Proposition 65 warning is not required in these optical products because the amount of BPA is so small that it does not create a health risk.

NSL Analytical Services has been recognized as an Essential Business by the State of Ohio, so we remain fully operational during the COVID-19 coronavirus shutdown. To recap, the Governor of Ohio issued a "Stay at Home Order" on March 22nd, 2020 for all individuals living in Ohio to stay at home except, among other things, to participate in “Essential Businesses and Operations." NSL is considered an Essential Business as a "supply chain company supplying essential products and services used by other Essential Businesses and Operations", so we remain open and ready for business.

The heightened good hygiene practices, social distancing, and split work force measures our company put in place over the past three weeks has been effective to date. NSL Analytical first opened its doors in 1945. Under the more recent visionary leadership of Larry Somrack, the company has grown to approximately 75 employees serving over 1,700 customers globally from two locations in Warrensville Heights, a Cleveland suburb. Today, NSL's talented chemists, metallurgists, and technicians help customers achieve the highest standards of product quality from the design phase to product launch; testing metals, alloys, plastics, composites, and ceramic materials in powdered, solid, and liquid form.

November, 2019 - Cleveland, Ohio: NSL Analytical Services, Inc., an independent commercial testing laboratory, received renewed accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025-2017, a prestigious designation for the quality and competence of its laboratory testing services.

Additional methods and tests have been added by NSL and received approval from ANAB the ILAC approved accreditation body. The scope expansion includes these added capabilities:
